In classical music from Western culture, an augmented second is an interval that is created by widening a major second by a chromatic semitone. The name also indicates the changed, stretched time in which the protagonist falls. The extreme state of stress before a performance is superimposed on a constant anxiety, transforming voices in her head into real characters sitting in an empty concert hall. And the performance itself becomes a detective reenactment. The actors play out dialogues, the director directs the process, the ephemeral vision of the main character transforms into a distorted form of nightmare. A slight sense of alienation intensifies and leads to the ultimate act of violence.
